Illetes and Llevant
A marvellous strip of beach, that cross the sea with a few metres of sand. A suggestive landscape, since you can see the sea on both sides of the beach.
Depending on the wind you can change the side, choosing the calm one. The water is crystalline and many yachtes lies on the horizon, where the colour of the water become blue.
There are no street to get there: you have to park your scooter and then have a walk: the more you walk, the more the place you’ll find would be relaxing and with few people.
The nudism is very practised on the entire island, but especially in this part.
You can also rent a beach umbrella and a lawn chair if you prefer but it’s not compulsory, and there are not fixed establishments.
There’re parking area, a restaurant and some chiringuitos (Ex. il Big Sur) in the neighbourhood, where you can admire a unforgettable sunset.
S'Espalmador Island
From Illetes you can reach Espalmador Island: in 15-20 minutes walk on the white sand you can get until the final of Illetes. From there, with the low tide, you can even walk or swim to get to Espalmador, that is uninhabited.
Alternatively, you can use a raft that you can rent or get on one of the boat (15 euros/person on every hours you choose) or from the La Savina port, through the boat Bahia (12 euros/person, with fixed time).
Espalmador is a little paradise: the closest part to Formentera is composed by white sand, whereas the northern part is mainly rocky.
In the middle there’s a salad lake and somewhere around this lake you can find natural pool of sulphuric muds. So it’s not so unusual to see “grey people” waiting for the sun that dry them for make the skin softer. You can also practise water sports.
Migjorn beach
It’s the longest beach of the island, being the entire south part of the island that colligates Es Cap with El Pilar de La Mola, the two promontories.
There’re no jellyfish in here, but the waves are biggest and sometimes you may have wind.
A part of the part from Torrent de s'Alga until Punta de l'Anguila (mainly rocky), the remaining part of Migjorn is sandy. The sea is very clean, and the water doesn’t become deep immediately; in this way Migjiorn is perfect for everyone, even for those who can’t swim, or for children as well.
There’s an unbelievable variety of fishes and algae: a perfect landscape for doing snorkelling!
Cala Sahona
Very small, but one of the most beautiful place in the island: restaurants and “chiringuitos” from which you can admire Ibiza, that is not so far. It’s a creek, a small inlet of beach between high red rocks. Closed to Cala Saona you can find some flats, a restaurant, a bar and a hotel: even if there’re some rows of beach umbrellas, there’s much free space. It’s possible to rent pedalò or canoe, so it’s a good place also for families.
If you prefer more privacy or simply you’re a curious person, it’s enough to have a little walk on the right side of the creek. There you can find two more little creeks: the first one is sandy and very very little. The second one is rocky, with platforms on which fishermen used to slide old boats through the sea.
Es Calò de Sant Augustì
In order to reach this place you have to park your scooter/car on the main road, then walk over woody footbridge (made to protect some natural species) to get to the beach. There’re three wonderful creeks, on next to the other: the first one is sandy, with a “chiringuito” and the possibility to rent beach umbrellas or some lawn chair.
The second one is both sandy and rocky, and the water is very low closed to the beach. The third one, finally, has a rocky projection that separates this creek in two natural-pool, one of them used as a port. Near this creek you can find also a restaurant.
The seabed of the entire island is full of an incredible variety of animals: polyps, fish of various size and colours, and so on.
